What types of projects does World Vision do?
World Vision projects may be grouped into three areas: 1) short-term emergency relief, such as providing food, shelter and medical care to victims of natural or man-made disasters; 2) long-term sustainable community development focusing on helping communities meet the needs its members identify, like clean water, education, health care, agricultural improvements and sanitation; and 3) working with policymakers and the public at the national, regional and global level to build awareness around poverty and to address the unjust systems that help perpetuate it.

2) On-site Monitoring
To ensure the quality of our projects and effective use of our funding, World Vision projects are organized, implemented and monitored by our staff or qualified local partners on site. The dedication and integrity of World Vision and local NGO staff are also the key contributor to the success of our projects.
3) Community Participation and Sustainable Development
To promote sustainable development of impoverished communities upon the completion of World Vision’s projects. World Vision encourages local people to participate in the whole process of development projects, from project design, implementation, monitoring to evaluation. Through participation and capacity building, they are empowered to have better knowledge and skills. As a result, long lasting improvement in their quality of life can be better secured.
Who are the beneficiaries of the project? Where are they?
Children are the focus of the project because they are the most vulnerable members of any community, World Vision project activities are designed to have maximum benefit for them.
To improve the lives of children, World Vision deals with the causes of their suffering, not just the symptoms. It means recognising that children live in a larger context of family and community, so sustainable development work needs to impact all of these.
As of 2015, World Vision implemented projects in 15 provinces/municipalities/autonomous regions. Child-focused Area Development Programs are operated in Gansu, Guangdong, Guangxi, Guizhou, Heibei, Jiangxi, Ningxia, Shaanxi, Yunnan. Relief projects and others are operated in Beijing, Jining, Sichuan, Tianjin and Hubei.
Do people living in project communities contribute to World Vision projects?
Communities always contribute to development projects and have a real sense of ownership and true participation. Community participation is integral to transformational development.
