Join Our Vision for Protecting Children
World Vision believes every child is precious and deserves to be protected and cherished. Children can grow to their fullest potential when they live in an environment that protects them from harm. Yet, many children are not fully protected. Even at home, which is the first line of defense, children are at risk of abuse and neglect when parents are driven by poverty or lack of awareness about how their choices can harm children.
World Vision China has launched the Every Child is Precious campaign, a child protection project that aims to end violence against children and help communities and families in Mainland China care for children affected by urban migration, ensuring that even when they are not with their parents, they still receive the love and support necessary to flourish.
We bring together and coordinate everyone who can help: government partners, civil social organizations, academia and community members, to improve and strengthen the child protection system at all levels:
Empowering parents as the first line of protection for children through positive parenting.
Strengthening child protection systems which incorporate counseling, case management, government engagement, community outreach and systems to identify and report incidences.
Empowering children through mentorship, life skills training, formation of children’s groups and after-school activities to promote social, mental and spiritual wellbeing. We also support the set-up of child-friendly and safe spaces for children.
Empowering Parents
Our goal: Help parents and caregivers provide a caring, supportive and protective environment for their children, especially the most vulnerable.
Our work:
Train parents in positive parenting, including non-violent disciplining techniques.
Promote awareness of children’s rights and the availability of resources for parents to support their children.
Conduct activities to increase bonding between parents and their children.
With a donation of HKD2000, you can contribute to equipping 20 parents with positive parenting skills to create loving and nurturing environments for their children.
Child Protection Systems
Our goal: Strengthen child protection systems by empowering communities to identify, respond to and manage child protection incidences.
Our work:
Equip community members to overcome cultural barriers to report incidences.
Train child protection workers and volunteers about child protection policies, case management and home visitations.
Advocate for policies and create community awareness to end violence against children.
With a monthly donation of HKD400, you can contribute to training one social worker on counselling, case management and support for children and families experiencing violence.
Empowering Children
Our goal: Help children and youth to develop healthy psychosocial wellbeing, resilience and meaningful participation in society.
Our work:
Support Children Centers as venues for mentorship and after school activities.
Equip children with life skills such as positive values and conflict resolution to protect themselves and their peers from violence.
Promote meaningful participation of children to have a voice in their communities.
