Stop the COVID-19 surge in India
India is in the grip of another wave of COVID-19 infections. The increasing number of cases is crippling the country’s already overstrained health care system. Severe shortage of hospital beds, oxygen and medicine had led to many people going without proper treatment and daily deaths are on the rise.
"India is going through one of the biggest health and humanitarian crises, bigger than what it faced 12 months ago. This wave is also infecting more children, causing us great concern for their health and well-being," says Madhav Bellamkonda, CEO & National Director of World Vision India.
World Vision’s immediate response will focus on the urgent needs of the local health care system. In the longer term, we are looking to scale up prevention efforts, strengthen health facilities and vaccine advocacy, and help communities cope with this surge of COVID-19.
