Every child deserves to be protected and cherished.

It takes a world to end violence against children.

World Vision's child protection efforts in the Lisu community have benefitted Song’s family and as well as others in their community. Before World Vision came, children had no safe space to play, nor did they have toys to play with nor books to read after school. With the establishment of the Children Centre in their village, children now enjoy spending their leisure time there, playing and reading books with the other kids. Parents also have less worry about the safety of their children. They sometimes come to the Children Centre to play basketball with their children, which is a huge success!

Pictured are: Song stands with his father at the basketball courts. This is a great contrast with the photos of them in their traditional clothing.

In the second photo he is holding a family goat (not donated by World Vision).

The third photo is of Song and his family in their home. Most of the houses have no windows and relies on their doors to provide light. Electricity is available but used only at night to save money.

Song is riding the family horse in the last photo, although it is not common for villagers to use horses for people’s transport. The horses are often used to carry heavy things and farm produce brought from the farm to the house or nearby villages.
